How to share between individuals?

Post by saskgui »

Hello all.

I have a little experience with FTP clients in connecting to public servers. However for the first time i am attempting to share files with a friend of mine. We both have CoreFTP and have tried typing in each others IP to connect to eath others computers but are unable to. The documentation that i have seen so far always refers to dl or ul to public servers.

How can one configure this client to connet to a friends computer when both have CoreFTP installed?

FTP clients are not meant as a p2p gateway. You might prefer to use something like a private p2p filesharing application.

If you want to use CoreFTP, you'll need an FTP server setup to work on your own computers.

CoreFTP offers their own server that you can setup to use. There are other alternatives but since this is their company forum I'm not going to discuss competing products. :)

Just wanted to say thank you for the replies. However it did not work. First i dl the lite server (thx for the link CP) and once installed my friend attempted to access my FTP to no avail. Then i got here to install the same server and i tried to connect to her and still no luck. We tried both port 21 and 22. Firewalls have been set to allow coreFTP. Username and passwords have been set.

Any ideas where i went wrong? :?

Can you post the error logs that your friend received when trying to connect to your FTP, or the error log portion you had when connecting here?

(CoreFTP runs a public FTP server on this domain?)
