Cant see remote file/folder list

Post by highflyer100 »

Hi
I can log on to the remote server ok but when it comes to updating file list i get the following:

230 User logged in, proceed.
SYST
215 UNIX Type: L8
Keep alive off...
PWD
257 "/" is current directory.
CWD /www\/
250 Directory changed to /www
PORT 192,168,2,2,110,210
200 PORT Command successful.
LIST
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.
426-Maximum disk quota limited to 307200 Kbytes
Used disk quota 3548 Kbytes, available 303651 Kbytes
426 Data connection closed, transfer aborted.
QUIT
221 Goodbye!

If i try passive mode I get an error saying "passive mode is not allowed on this server"

Any ideas?

I will fill you in on some more detail. I can make a succesful connection if I use a dial up connection to internet. My present connection is a group broadband scheme which is a wirless connection beamed from a local hill. I think there is an issue with their firewall/proxy as my IP is a private one. What questions should I ask my service provider to ensure a tunnel through their firewall for CoreFTP is established?

Yes on dial up it works ok with the following log, including the quota message, but it is a 226 this time.
It definitely seems that I need a public IP addy.

250 Directory changed to /www
PORT 159,134,150,136,90,18
200 PORT Command successful.
LIST
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.
226-Maximum disk quota limited to 307200 Kbytes
Used disk quota 3548 Kbytes, available 303651 Kbytes
226 Transfer complete.
Transferred 1,539 bytes in 0.421 seconds

Bad News

My ISP has told me that a connection can not be made because the hosting company is using Windows servers and does not allow passive FTP. Seems to be a cop out to me, what do you think? They advised me to change my hosting company!!!
