blocking attacks

Post by philou22 »

hi all.

in file zilla server, there is a BAN function : this function block IP address who doesn't log in (who are trying). after trying xx times to connect, the address is ban.

with coreftp server, i look who is trying to connect without success, and i write in Rules the IP adrress to ban .... hard hard.

i take coreftp server because SFTP, security is important.

any solution to ban ?

thanks a lot.

another way : filter IP adress who are coming from out of France (for me), with whois ... but how ?

Core FTP Server auto-bans users temporarily by IP when they fail to enter in the correct information (after a few attempts).

You can ban all addresses and then add subnets for customers in your area. This is probably the only way, short of using a different port, to keep hackers from trying to hit your server. Using a non-standard port is a good way though.
