newbie speed stuff

Ok. I am real new to FTPs in general, and have FTP lite. I have broadband, but the files I am downloading are coming across at like, 1-3 kb/sec. which means almost an entire day just for a 25 minute mp3 file (28,000 kb). Is this the normal speed -- I have looked in help and here in the forum but not seen a plain set of directions for this. THank you for the help.

Thanks for the advice, I will take another look at this stuff later. The last line said I should check my own FTP addy, but I was unaware I even had one. Does using FTP to download automatically mean I have one, and if so where do I go to find it?
