FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM:
I learned today from my host service that they were transferring their tech service stuff to a new server and that it resulted in FTPs being temporarily disabled. This explained why I was not able to access Core FTP...
It may be better when you have any error problem coming up that refers to a host, to actually check with the host service first - your answer may come sooner and be more easily managed...
Thanks
