Using IE to access FTP Server

Can someone tell me why the Core client works to the server but when I use IE7 and point the browser to the FTP server it will not allow download or opening of files????

For some reason IE requires the actual IP or hostname.

Can you connect here via IE:
ftp://ftp.coreftp.com/
