SSL DIRECT vs. AUTH SSL

Post by muline »

I am using Core FTP to connect to a Serv-U Server that is set up to allow only SSL/TLS sessions only via Port 990.

When I select the DIRECT SSL feature with SSL Listings and SSL Transfers selected in Core FTP the server passes the certificates teh connections are made and all works well.

However, when I select AUTH SSL with SSL Listings and SSL Transfers selected in Core FTP the following is returned and no connection is made.

Connecting to 192.168.168.50, port 990
Connect socket #492 to 192.168.168.50, port 990...
Can't Establish connection-->192.168.168.50:990

Any ideas or comments? :?: I looked throughout HELP to understand the difference between SSL DIRECT and AUTH SSL

Recommendation: Define the differences between SSL DIRECT vs. AUTH SSL in the HELP section :D

:D FYI: For those sites that run Rinosoft's Serv-U Secure FTP when you setup the Domain to Allow SSL/TLS Only this is IMPLICIT SSL. There for when using Core FTP set you connection to use DIRECT SSL.

You verified my assumptions. Security can be quite confusing!!!! :roll:
