Help with connection issue

Post by GrandpaRob »

I am trying to connect to a server at our local university using SFTP. When I connect from home, using a wireless connection, I can connect fine. I am currently trying to connect from my friend's house using a wireless connection, and any time I try to connect I get "SFTP Connection Error". I started with the most recent version of the client, then downloaded the version I use at home which is 2.1 build 1612 since I know that will work. I have also tried disabling the windows firewall, the real time protection from the antivirus program, and even the firewall on the wireless router, but an still not able to connect. Is there something that I need to disable that I'm missing?

While it probably is some kind of firewall/security error, post the log after the connection attempt (top of screen, right click for copy/save options).

looks like you're connecting on the wrong port, although it's difficult to tell with this version. You should still install a more recent build over your existing build.

I had the latest release, and was getting the exact same response. I've got it set to connect on port 22, which is what my own computer is set to. Unless there is something on this computer that is blocking it.

It has to be some kind of security issue (antivirus/firewall) outside of Core FTP on that machine:

www2.umaine.edu connecting...
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.3
client -> aes128
server -> aes128

ssh-rsa
