FileZilla allows a connection to an sftp server but CoreFTP does not

I am using Windows Server 2008 r2 and Windows 10, respectively, with the following versions: Core FTP LE Version 2.2 build 1769 and Core FTP LE Version 2.2 build 1915. Both installations of CoreFTP are returning an issue when attempting to contact an external sftp server that I do not experience on FileZilla. The version on the VM Server will not even establish a connection. The version on my local desktop (Windows 10) is able to establish a connection but when it attempts to send the password (it is a hashed password provided by the vendor), it reports back that a connection cannot be established because of an invalid username or password. Again, I am using the same credentials on FileZilla with no issue. I have not done anything with the settings on either the VM server version or my local boxes version so it is a default install.
