Like some others, I would like to be able to map virtual paths to the same drive, it seems very odd that the current behaviour won't allow it.
For now, I've worked around it to use a UNC variant of the same drive to bypass the dialog's error message, but that's very untidy. And it shows that - in principle at least - the functionality SHOULD be there, if you'd just allow it!
