'Output truncated to 2000 items' message?

Any way around the 'Output truncated to 2000 items' message? Helping a friend who has way more than 2000 items in his site root (not server root), and I am unable to see the entire structure so can't get to all needed files.

There isn't, it's a server side setting. Files will need to be moved to other directories, or you can ask your server administrator to remove the option and allow more files to be listed.
