Cant establish connection

Post by johnhardy »

I have a connection set up in Core FTP which I have been using recently.
I have been using this with FTP but today tried to use SFTP

Immediately I did this the the connection no longer works.
I changed it back to FTP but still it will not work.
I deleted the Site and re installed the site but still it would not work.

When I select Connect
the local site is incorrect and the remote site remains empty.
The error message is
Connect socket #1200 to 82.165.255.135, port 22...
Can't establish connection --> hedgesbandb.co.uk:22 @ Thu Apr 30 23:30:23 2015 (0-5)

I am able to use other ftp programs to obtain a connection but would prefer my Core FTP to work correctly.

I have the LE Version
Thanks for any help.
Regards
John

Thanks CP
This all started because I was advised to only use SFTP, for security. Is that not correct or possible?

Not all servers will support SFTP access.

Additionally SFTP is sometimes confused with FTPS, which is secure SSL).

The server may possibly support SSL, which is "connection" type "AUTH TLS" or "AUTH SSL" or "FTPS" (FTPS usually uses port 990).
