Remote directory with large number of files

Post by Chris Spagnoli »

First of all, as a long-time WS-FTP user, and having downloaded CoreFTP the other day for evaluation (when I managed to screw up my WS-FTP installation), I am very impressed with CoreFTP thus far. I have just one little problem at the moment...

I connect to a remote system which has a directory that has accumulated just over 10,000 files in it. When I connect to this remote directory, CoreFTP lite (version 1.3, build 1260) gets to "loading 389892", then crashes (unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occured at location 0x015f9e37). When I connect to my local copy of that directory (retrieved previously by WS_FTP from the same remote system), it loads ok, although that local directory holding 10,830 files problably has a few dozen less files than the remote.

As a new user, I admit that maybe I'm doing something wrong, but after careful review and much head-scratching, I just can't figure out what.

Thanks in advance for whatever advice you can offer!

Thank you for the prompt reply!

Both PCs I use experience it (on the same remote directory).
1) Windows XP with 1024Mb
2) Windows 2000 with 768Mb

Remote system is Linux, I don't know the version. but the "help" command on it shows:
"GNU bash, version 2.05b.0(1)-release (i386-redhat-linux-gnu)"

Update: I just tried build 1276, and it works with no problems on this large directory. Whatever you fixed between 1260 and 1276, thank you!
