CoreFTP LE - Prompting for username and password

Post by AlienProtein »

Good day to all.

I have been browsing/searching the forum for over an hour and can not find what i'm looking for. Darn it!.

This issue is two fold. I have some users using CoreFTP LE and they love it, as do I. However we discovered an issue ( discussed here -> http://www.coreftp.com/forums/viewtopic ... ht=default) with the CoreFTP LE client not being set as the default handler causing the endless browser pop up's. This one can be very annoying, and hope it is addressed in later builds. I did notice this behavior only happens to user accounts with non administrative privileges. Local Admins have no browser pop up issues. Moving forward...

I went ahead and set CoreFTP to be the default handler for FTP requests. The browser pop up issue goes away, but, if there is a username and password in the link string (i.e. ftp://username:password@ftp.sitename.com) it does not connect but does execute the site manager. The status window does nothing and will not go away until the client is fully closed.

If there is no username and password designated (i.e. ftp.sitename.com) nothing happens. The status window does appear but does nothing and eventually times out. I would expect this is where I should be prompted for a username and password and I have seen other FTP clients do.

For me this is not an issue, as I prefer to manually configure my sites in the site manager, but feel it should be more user friendly. My end users are less inclined to use the site manager as opposed to clicking a simple hyperlink.

I have tested this on build 1.3c (1447.4) and 2.1 (1582) and verified both version function in the exact same way.

Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
AP.

Any feedback on this thread would be nice. I am hoping not to have to force this applications removal from those systems and figure this is as good a place as any to get some info about these issues.

Thanks,
AP
