Can't establish connection - even with site in tutorial

I used to be able to transfer files with no problems
I recently moved/changed ISP and since then have not been able.
I have unistalled and re-installed core FTP and then ran through the tutorial - but I got the following message:

'Can't establish connection-->ftp.microsoft.com:21@(date time etc)
An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.'

Any ideas of how to resolve this?

I'm not sure what the reply in this thread relates to, but it looks like a reply to something else entirely.

Are you able to connect to : ftp.coreftp.com

Yes, that connected with no problems at all
