Logging

Post by bgateley »

I've noticed that when I select the "Log to file" option, it allows me to create a log file wherever I want....however, doing so also creates a log file for each FTP user in their home directory that logs that user's activity. Since some of my FTP users have delete permissions, they would be able to delete that log, which kind of defeats the purpose. Is there any way to have ALL activity logged to a different location?

Also, I read in a different thread about viewing activity in real time from the main window and how you couldn't do it if the server was being run as a service. Is there any plan to change that? Sure would be nice!

Lastly, I downloaded the Core FTP server and have not yet registered it...is there any benefits of doing so? I couldn't find any mention of it being a demo that only works for 3 months unless you register it or not allowing certain functions unless you register it, etc. If I continue to use it, I WILL register it, as I believe in the shareware concept, but I was just kind of curious about it.

Well, I WAS specifying a full path, but your post got me to playing around with it and I discovered that you need to stop the server, exit out of the program and restart it in order to have a change in log directories take affect. Thanks for your help, got any ideas about my other questions?
