Core FTP

I have Win XP. I looked under my connection information but I couldn't find anything about a firewall.

I have tried using Core FTP both in active and passive modes, and I don't have a firewall.

When I use Core FTP to attempt to connect to someones ftp, I cannot retrieve their directory listing. It tells me I am connecting, I get their login message, the password is accepted, and it says I am logged in, but when it goes to retrieve the directory listing it times out. I have the same problem...
