That (eventually) worked. I had to clear the checkbox and stop&restart the service.

Home dir set when user is SFTP, but not when FTP
Server 1.2 build 519: when a user logs in using SFTP, they are placed in their home directory. This is my expected behaviour. Recently, I enabled plain FTP, and if I log in as the same user (or any user, for that matter) I am placed in the root directory. This is undesirable. One server, two test us...
