IPs being blocked - I think

Post by Forge »

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to CoreFTP server and could use a little help. We have a single server that was recently moved to another system. I could not move the configuration for the server due to issues with hard drive corruption and failures, so I had to rebuild the SFTP environment manually. This has worked just fine for 99% of my users. The problem is with one user. We can log in to the SFTP server just fine when we use an FTP client software like FileZilla or CoreFTP LE, but when we try to log in using a built-in FTP client on their ERP software, the connection is rejected.

EDIT (deleted previous ask because we found today that wasn't the problem):
After some digging today, we find that the issue seems to be in the form of blocking certain IPs. When we restart the server services, we can connect using the user in question from the IP in question just fine. Then, in less than 30 seconds, that same user from that same address will be denied access. I will then restart the service and we can access again for a few seconds and then lose the connection once again.

I have gone into Access Rules, both at the service level and at the user level to add the whitelisted addresses, but when I do that, and then go back into the Access Rules, nothing is there. I can add the rules over and over again, but they keep disappearing. This is a critical level issue that's fallen to my shoulders, and so I could really use some help getting this sorted out ASAP. Thanks in advance folks!

The user may be exceeding the "max conns per IP" setting. You can increase it on a per user basis in the user's "general" - "limit # of logins" setting.

There is also the "Always allow login" option also but use with caution.
