Difference between Idle and Session timeout

Post by squawk »

I'm not clear on the difference between the Idle and Session timeout. Could anybody explain?

Currently I have the Idle timeout set to 60 seconds, so I assume any user that is logged in, but does nothing, is logged out after 60 seconds.

Session timeout is 0 minutes by default, but I don't understand how this value differs from, or works with, the Idle timeout.

Really appreciate an explanation.

idle - total time allowed without a command being issued, before being logged off.

session - total time allowed logged in before being logged off.

transfer - total time allowed without a transfer, before being logged off.
