You seem to have fixed it by forcing an underscore to replace all blanks :)

Renaming a Site

I have used a site when setting up a Scheduled Task.

What will happen if I rename the site?

Will the Task continue to work?

Is it the site name that is referenced by the task or some internal pointer?

Thanks

Compression Speed v. Maximum compression

The speed of compression seemed rather slow so I have done some comparisons. On a 400MB directory: 1. CoreFTP takes 2 minutes 30 seconds to create a 98MB file. 2. Winzip (normal setting) takes 45 seconds to create a 101MB zip file. 3. Winzip (maximum setting) takes 2 minutes 35 seconds to create a 9...

Compression and little Status bar bug - build 1432

When doing a compression, the status bar shows "Processing xxx of yyy bytes".

For some reason this text keeps coming and going at random intervals - a bit confusing to see a blank status bar :)

Compression does not copy files in use

Sorry for the delay in coming back with more testing. I had earlier reported that sometimes compression of a directory failed with an incomplete (and thus unvalid) zip file. I have now tracked this down to the old problem of files that are in use. Looks like there is the same bug here. If I have an ...

Maybe I gave up too soon. My concern initially was not the security but the practicality. I just found it difficult to set up. Also I am certain that some of the features I use are not there. For example I set up groups which include %user in the path specification. I therefore do not have to set up...

I gave it one try and gave up! For example, as far as I could see the users all have to be created as accounts on the system.

Problems with compression (build 1428/1429)

I have been trying to zip and transfer a folder. The folder size is about 460 MB and Winzip zips it down to about 340 MB. CoreFT starts the zipping (as shown in the bottom left hand corner) and gradually seems to get slower. When it reaches 122,702,912 it stops zipping and starts to transfer the res...

Default setting for MDTM wrong in Site Manager - small bug

In Global settings I do NOT have "Do not use MDTM" ticked.

In Site Manager > Advanced this setting shows WITH a grey tick as if the default was ticked.

In practice the global setting of "not ticked" was used - the time at the target is the time from the file.

I had the same problem. I was using FileZilla Server and it was fine except that the developer refused to implement MDTM - claiming that that it was ill-defined and ambiguous (true but virtually impossible to happen in real life) After much hunting I came up with Gene6 http://www.gene6.com/ which is...

Recursion

I think I understand recursion but not the relevance here as an option for the user. Do you not have to use recursion anyway when treversing the directory tree. Or to put it an other way, what difference is there in the processing whether the user does or does not select this option? As to suggestio...

I see it now - thanks. CoreFTP is very rich in features - it all seems to be there if you know where to look. What threw me originally was what looks like an inconsistency in your interface. When selecting something to copy you have the various permutations of Upload (immediate) and Queue while on S...

Thanks. Just did a bit more testing. File opened by Notepad copies OK - I suspect Notepad does not lock the file in any way. Files opened by Access or Excel do copy but with a zero length. Just noticed that in the queue the files are still listed but with a status of Failed. The logs do not show any...

Compression - 3

1. I select Compression > Queue with Password, enter name and password and the file goes in the queue. OK.

2. I select an other file, Compression > Queue with Password and a password is not requested.

3. Ditto , Compression > Queue using previous password, and nothing happens.

Copying files that are in use

It seems that CoreFTP ignores files that are opened by applications - even though not exclusively locked. I cannot see any option to enable "in-use" files to be copied. For us this is a serious problem as the files we are backing up are Access database files which users have open all the t...

Thank you.

Just to clarify, Upload as Path is purely cosmetic as to how it appears in the queue - the end result is the same.

If that is correct, I can understand Queue as Path, but why then have Upload as path?

Compression - part 2

On further testing the compression facilities, it seems that sub-directories are ignored. I have tried to upload a directory with all the compression options (upload, local file, queue) with the same result. If the directory only contains sub-directories then the zip file has zero length. If there a...

Option to queue Sync?

I would like to schedule a regular Sync operation, but it seems that there is no queue facility - it is executed immediately. Have I missed something? Compression

Just trying out CoreFTP Pro for use as a command line FTP client, I was rather surprised at the wealth of features. Looks like I may be able to combine work done by several packages I use for backups into a single product. For the moment just looking at compression. 1. On one PC I get the "Comp...
