Found it, somehow the button for binary was selected instead of ascii.
Perhaps if the colors had more contrast I would have seen it before now.

Overlay Instead of Replace
I have been using COREFTP for several years and have never encountered where a file transfer overwrites a file instead of replacing the file. Is there a setting for this? How can this happen? If anyone knows of a solution, please let me know.
